Volunteer of the Year Finalist

Sister Sheila has worked as a volunteer at Open Door since it first opened its doors in 1993. Her commitment, drive and dedication are the Stuff of local legend. “Her service to the homeless has been an inspiration both to those we work to help, and to the many, many volunteers that she has brought with her to cook our lunchtime and evening meals.”

Sister Sheila takes a genuine and caring interest in the people who come to Open Door, from whatever background they come and whatever their personal needs and problems. She is loved and appreciated by clients for her selfless, friendly good humour and her caring approach to their lives. Here are a few comments from service users:
